Beyoncé Covers Out’s May 2014 Power Issue Tue, 08 Apr 2014 14:54:09 +0000 Fresh off of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, Beyoncé scorches on the cover of Out magazine’s May Power issue donning nothing short of sexy.

In the cover story, Jay Z’s better half opens up about the surprise release of her eponymous fifth studio last December, sexuality, fans and more.

“The singer, who defied traditional marketing tactics late last year when she released her surprise self-titled video album, is the perfect representation of what it means to be powerful,” Out writes. “She’s poised, she’s commanding, and she does it all at her own pace.”

Fans also get to get an inside look at Beyoncé’s powerful team at her entertainment company Parkwood Entertainment and a collection of never-before-seen photos lensed by Santiago & Mauricio.

I’d like to believe that my music opened up that conversation. There is unbelievable power in ownership, and women should own their sexuality. There is a double standard when it comes to sexuality that still persists. Men are free and women are not. That is crazy. The old lessons of submissiveness and fragility made us victims. Women are so much more than that. You can be a businesswoman, a mother, an artist, and a feminist—whatever you want to be—and still be a sexual being. It’s not mutually exclusive. – Beyoncé

New Music: Nicki Minaj – ‘Chi-Raq (feat. Lil Herb)’ Tue, 08 Apr 2014 05:25:29 +0000 As the anticipation builds for Nicki Minaj’s third album The Pink Print, the rap queen unwraps a new lethal track titled “Chi-Raq,” featuring Lil Herb.

From the tough beat to the defiant lyrics, Ms. Minaj is giving a subtle warning that she’s coming for blood with her new era. While her sophomore LP Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded resulted in very mixed opinions across the board, I’m loving the direction she’s headed in with album No. 3.

“I might give you a new trick every week until this album drop,” she adds at the end of the song.

In related news, Nicki co-stars on the romantic comedy The Other Woman alongside Cameron Diaz, Leslie Mann, Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Taylor Kinney and Kate Upton, in theaters April 25.

Real Housewives of Atlanta star NeNe Leakes and dance partner Derek Hough put on quite a show during Monday’s Dancing with the Stars as the duo performed to Beyoncé’s African-inspired anthem, ”Grown Woman.”

Tasked with dancing jazz this week, Mrs. Leakes took to the stage adorned in a dramatic tribal ensemble and didn’t hold anything back as she and Derek worked their magic.

The judges scored NeNe and Derek with a 32/40 – how do you think she did?

New Music: Jarell Perry – ‘Blow’ (Beyoncé Cover) Wed, 02 Apr 2014 03:53:01 +0000 Alternative R&B singer Jarell Perry releases a song for the ladies – a cover of Beyoncé’s sultry, 70s-inspired anthem ”Blow” from her self-titled fifth album.

I’d say it’s pretty difficult to do a Queen Bey cover justice, but this singer does no wrong. While I prefer the upbeat version, Jarell’s slowed-down rendition is refreshingly mysterious and intriguing.

Listen to Mr. Perry’s “Blow” below. His White EP is available now on iTunes.

New Music: Drake – ‘Draft Day’ Wed, 02 Apr 2014 03:27:45 +0000 After teasing the track on Instagram just two weeks ago, Drake drops a new song titled “Draft Day.”

The song is a subtle nod to 21-year-old football star and Heisman Trophy winner Johnny Manziel, who Drake became close with last summer.

During an interview in September, Drake detailed his friendship with Manziel referring to them as a “duo.”

“I encourage him to have stronger discipline than anybody else. I tell him, in this position that we’re in, it takes major sacrifice,” Drake revealed. “And a lot of the time, I know you want to live your life and I know you want to have fun, but there’s also like a bigger picture here and we’re in it for the long term.”

New Michael Jackson Album ‘XSCAPE’ to Release May 13 Mon, 31 Mar 2014 14:14:57 +0000 Epic Records announces the release of a posthumous album by the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. Titled XSCAPE, the collection of 8 new tracks will arrive on May 13.

A deluxe edition of the album including the songs in their original form will be available for pre-order beginning April 1 at

XSCAPE was crafted and executive produced by Epic Records chairman L.A. Reid, who was given unlimited access to Michael’s unreleased catalogue by the Estate of Michael Jackson.

Just as Michael did throughout his career, the one-word name of the album derives from one special song on the album – “Xscape” written by Michael and Rodney – which “has further significance in that it is the one track on the album that was ‘contemporized’ by the producer who recorded it originally in the studio with Michael.”

Timbaland served as lead producer for the album while other producers include Rodney Jerkins, Stargate, Jerome “Jroc” Harmon and John McClain.

“Michael was always on the cutting edge and was constantly reaching out to new producers, looking for new sounds.  He was always relevant and current. These tracks, in many ways, capture that spirit. We thank L.A. Reid for his vision,” said John Branca and John McClain, co-executors of the Estate of Michael Jackson.
