Lorde’s ‘Royals’ Experiences Sales Gain Prior to Album Release

Lorde’s international hit single “Royals” continues dominating this week, rising to No. 1 on the Digital Sales chart with an additional 307,000 downloads for a total of 1.5 million.

The track will appear on Lorde’s debut album, Pure Heroine, releasing September 30.

Billboard writes, “The 16-year-old New Zealander is the first solo female to send a debut entry to No. 1 on the sales tally since Carly Rae Jepsen ruled for eight weeks beginning last June with ‘Call Me Maybe.’

“Royals” also rises 6-4 on Streaming Songs with 5.5 million, and holds at No. 3 on the Billboard Hot 100 for a third consecutive week. Its radio impressions climb to 104 million.

Meanwhile, Miley Cyrus’ single “Wrecking Ball” spends a second week at No. 1 on the Hot 100 while Katy Perry’s former two-week chart-topper “Roar” sits at No. 2. Billboard notes that the race to the top spot between these two singles was very close.
